Los Charly’s Orchestra is a London based collective created, produced & lead by Venezuelan producers Juan Laya & Jorge Montiel. Combining a retro and exhilarating modern sound, Los Charly’s Orchestra are characterized by a unique edge that blends the Salsoul & Philly Disco sound of the 70′s with a seriously Latin perspective.
Among some of the talented members of Los Charly’s Orchestra: Ace Neo Soul icon: Xantone Blacq, singers, Andre Speut & Elpidio Alegria, Brazilian bass players: Matheus Nova & George Malamas, Keyboardist: Milt Mavrakakis, Guitarist: Phil Stevenson, Trombonist: Tony Trombony, Trumpet player: Paul Batik, Drummers: John Desbrulais & Mike Mckenzie, and Venezuelan percussionist Wilmer Sifontes in between many others.
The band has worked in collaboration with some of the most prolific current producers of the contemporary scene such as Faze Action, Jose Luis Pardo (from Los Amigos Invisibles), Pete Herbert & Joey Negro producing a series of releases to the delight of the global Latin-Funk/Soul/Disco scene.
Over the past few years LCO had produced a series of songs that have truly become modern times classics. “My Barrio & Al Ritmo Del Latin Funk” have been given the recognition by entities & personalities of the calibre of NME, Craig Charles (BBC6), Joey Negro, Dimitri from Paris & Norman Jay in between many others due to their authenticity.
As well as that, the band has played in some of the key musical spots of the UK & the rest of the world such as Clore Ballroom (Royal Festival Hall) London, Lovebox Festival, Jazz Cafe, Blue Marlin – Ibiza & Unico – Shanghai.
